Startup: Our congregations arrange for a startup workshop whenever a congregation and minister begin a new ministry together. It’s a great opportunity for a congregation and minister to look at their expectations of one another and confirm the ones we share, look at any mismatches, and see if we find any surprises. Startups are enjoyable. Congregations recall their pasts and their hopes for the future. And it’s interesting to look at what a minister is and some of the different styles of ministry.

Our Startup weekend begins next Friday, November 1, 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner for everyone in the congregation. Childcare is available (Please email the office to make a reservation for childcare!). For congregational leaders (trustees, members of committees, teams, Branches leaders, Worship Associates, etc.) the Startup continues the next day, Saturday, November 2, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and includes lunch.

The facilitator for our Startup is Connie Goodbread. She is the Lead Congregational Life Consultant for the Southern Region of the UUA. She and I will also lead Sunday services together on Nov. 3. Connie will be available after services for a Question and Answer session.

Stewardship Campaign: The kickoff meetings have been very meaningful for me. I’m moved by how deeply you care for each other and your commitment to what your church does for your children and youth and for justice in the larger community. You share a wonderful spirit of generosity and compassion, and a continuing courage I find inspiring.

As we prepare for 2020, we’re now asking for your pledges of financial support. You should have received a letter and a pledge card from me in the mail last week. Please consider an increase for this coming year. We’re asking each other for a 4% increase (on average: some of us can pledge more, some of us less than that). You can let us know about your pledge by email, by using the church’s website (http://unitarianchurchbr.com/pledge), by mailing the pledge card back to the church office, by dropping it into the pledge box at church, or by handing it to me or Rev. Nathan anytime.

And I’m still scheduling the stewardship kickoff meetings. Call or email the church office and Allison will sign you up for one!
