Blog category:

Signup will begin Sunday, August 4 for our service preparing "Bags of Hope" on Saturday, August 31, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul dining room.  This will be an all church/intergenerational volunteer opportunity for members and children with a parent or a designated adult. "Bags of Hope" is an evening meal provided to homeless and others who eat the daily lunch-time meal in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room. Our team will include 15 volunteers who will work along with other community volunteers.  Look for the sign-up sheet on the table to the right as you enter Fellowship Hall or email rcureau@cox.net to be placed on the list.

Save the date:  The Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge will host the Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, September 12, 7am at the Catholic Life Center, 1800 South Acadian Thruway.  The Prayer Breakfast is one of two major Federation events that bring together a large gathering of members of the community who share and support the Federation's goal of cultivating justice, peace, and unity in the Baton Rouge community.  The theme for this year's Prayer Breakfast is "BR Healing: Naming our Stories." Two speakers will address briefly the traumas that have beset our community such as violence, floods, and personal losses; their effects; and ways to heal, including story-telling.  Following the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity and option to tell table-mates a two-minute personal story of trauma.  The goal for this part of the morning program is story-telling and deep listening.  UCBR is represented each year by a large number of attendees. Consider being part of our group for the 2019 Prayer Breakfast. Tickets are $20.
