Sign-up will continue through May 19 for our second service of the year at the Holy Grill from Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24.  Five servers are needed for each day. Sign-up at tables near the door in Fellowship Hall or email rcureau@cox.net. The noon-day meal at the Holy Grill has been provided by the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge without interruption since inaugurated in 1987 as the Federation's first program.  Volunteers enjoy working side-by-side with fellow UCBR members, and often meet members for the first time.   A celebration was held during the regular noon-day meal on April 25 in honor of Tonia Causey's 30th Anniversary as Coordinator and cook for the Holy Grill.

The Annual Sounds of CommUNITY Concert, presented by the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge, will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 544 Government Street.  The concert will feature performances from member churches represented in the Federation's diverse membership. There is no admission, but a freewill offering will be taken to support the Federation's programs, which includes the Holy Grill.

Fifteen members of our church signed on to attend the Ramadan Iftaar at the Islamic Center on Friday, May 17th, one of the two break-the-fast meals hosted by the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge and which I will host on behalf of the Federation.  Ramadan will be celebrated this year from May 6 to June 3 by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief.  Other dates during Ramadan are also  available, Click on  http://www.icbrsite.org/ramadan-iftaar-for-guests/  to view the Islamic Center's letter of invitation and  available dates,  related information for attending an  Iftaar,  and a number to call to register.   As the letter of invitation notes, "... it is an excellent social and educational experience to explore the Muslim culture by learning about Islam and Muslims first-hand...."

Donation to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank are always needed and welcome.  Please place your donations in the Food Bank carts near the bulletin boards in the Coffee Room.
