Little Sundays of Surprises (Age 3- Grade K)

The Rainbow Connection: It’s Good to Be Me!

In this session the children will explore the value of having the courage to be them selves. It is the first session of the unit on the Third UU Principle (Yellow): “We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning together.” We will read Exclamation Mark by Amy Rosenthal and make exclamation mark pictures.

What Connects Us?: Love of Learning

This session introduces the fifth Source of Unitarian Universalism, "Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.” The session’s goals are to strengthen a love of learning and discovery and foster an interest in general and astronomy in particular.

Sparks Preschool/Flames (Age 3 – Grade 1)

Wonderful Welcome: The Gift of Families

This sessionguides participants to consider the intangible gifts they bring to and receive from members of their families, and explore ways to share intangible gifts within our families.

Blazes (Grades 2-3)

Super Heroes of the Bible: Elijah finds and rebukes Ahab.

The children will review and apply the Ten Commandments, and consider whether committing a misdeed is as bad as being caught in a misdeed.

Mysteries (Grades 4-5)

Harry and UU: Transfiguration

Transfiguration is used to change something from its original form into something totally different. In this session the children will change paper into objects, and discuss how we might also use transfiguration to change things about ourselves. Questioners Middle Youth (Grades 6-7)

Riddle and Mystery: Right and Wrong

This week the program poses the Big Question "How Can I Tell Right from Wrong?” The youth will explore the concept of the conscience and examine how one’s actions affect oneself and others.

Passages (Grade 8)

Coming of Age: Talking about Unitarian Universalism

This week the youth will boost their level of comfort when discussing Unitarian Universalism, and share experiences of discussing religion with peers.

Seekers Senior Youth (Grades 9-12)

Neighboring Faiths: Integrating Experiences

The Senior Youth will discuss their experiences visiting St. Paul Lutheran Church.
