Here is information on programs and opportunities for connections among our congregants.
Lunch Bunch is an informal meeting of members, visitors, friends at a local restaurant approximately 1:00 to 1:30 PM on Sundays at the completion of worship services.
Lunch Bunch is a great way to meet other members, friends and visitors of the church. Also a great way to try out different restaurants around the Baton Rouge area.
The restaurants are listed monthly in our newsletter and on this web site calendar, weekly in the Friday e-mail announcements and in the Sunday Order of Service AND they are announced from the podium before each worship service.
At church Sunday between services check the Adult Activities table for information on Circle Suppers. These informal dinners of six to twelve people are held in the homes of members monthly. They are a great way to get to know each other better.
We need circle supper hosts for May, June, July, August, September, October and November
Soon we hope to have completed plans for a Swamp Tour as well as another out-of town Lunch Bunch trip. Check the Adult Activities table on Sunday morning for detail on these activities.
Quarterly after-church Pot Luck Lunches provide additional time for socializing. We bring a dish to share and we share in the work of setting up tables and chairs and cleaning up the kitchen after the fellowship of dining together. These dinners are announced in all our publications
The Small Group Ministry program of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge is called Branches
A Branches group provides a structure within which participants minister to each other. The subject matter of the group is the participants' lives. Intimacy and Ultimacy are the goals. Group members listen to each other, but do not attempt to solve each other's problems. These are not therapy or encounter groups. The groups are part of a religious community , the Church. Most groups usher about one month per year. Some groups choose to take on other service projects for the church or the larger community. Many groups meet in the homes of the members, but there are other groups that meet at the church. Meetings are held monthly, for two hours including a refreshment & socializing period.
